Individual Counseling
Individual therapy provides a safe space to share without judgement and gain new skills to manage past, present and future challenges. Learning how to sit with your uncomfortable emotions while being kind and loving to yourself. Sometimes therapy means hearing the hard truth, but it is always done with compassion and kindness. Walking alongside you while you learn how to grow into the very best version of yourself.
Teletherapy/Online Counseling
Whether it’s due to distance, weather, illness or you just prefer to engage in therapy from the comfort of your home. I am available for telehealth therapy services to patients throughout the state of South Dakota. Telehealth has been proven to be equally effective as in-person therapy, without the hassle of traffic, commutes or changing out of your pajama pants!
Family Counseling
Relationships are a focal point in all of our lives. Family relationships can often be the center of our healing. Engaging in family therapy can help you reconnect as a family unit. Whether your goals are improving communication skills, learning love languages or working through difficult family and life transitions; Family therapy can often be a great place to start the change process.
Treatment Approaches
Person Centered
I recognize that each of my clients are uniquely themselves and that no two situations, diagnoses or life experiences are the same. I prefer to meet my clients where they are, as they are, within their current situation of life.
Trauma Informed Care/Cognitive Processing Therapy
Acknowledging that mental health is intricate and requires an understanding of each client as a whole person, with all of life’s experiences. With training in trauma informed care and trauma informed approaches, such as Trauma Focused CBT, I am able to assist you in working through past or recent traumatic experiences.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Although I do not engage in full DBT therapy, I have received training in DBT skills and protocol. I often utilize emotional regulation, interpersonal skills and other DBT tools to assist clients in accepting and understanding their difficult emotions.
Dual Diagnosis
For those who struggle with addition, recognizing that this is a complex concern that often requires a deeper understanding of the root issues that led to substance use in the first place. Being dually licensed in mental health and addiction helps me to work with clients in seeing the bigger picture.
Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)
Using CBT skills to help clients recognize the negative or distorted views of themselves or the world to help build and foster self-love, self-compassion or a more realistic view of the world around them.
Strengths Perspective
I often meet clients who enter therapy feeling broke and lost. Coming to see the beauty in growing and changing, while also acknowledging the many strengths you have developed throughout your lifespan is one of my favorite pieces of therapy.
